A brave cop confronted a violent killer, whose hands were still stained with the victim’s blood.
After receiving reports that a man had been stabbed, PC Richard Edge of Derbyshire Police bravely entered a hostel and found the victim - who he organised medical help for - before searching for the killer.
Body-worn footage taken at the time shows the moment PC Edge found the wanted man in the garden of the hostel, his hands still covered in blood from the vicious attack. With his Taser trained on the man, PC Edge warns him he will Taser him if he makes any threats and tells him to put his hands to the rear before calling for a colleague to cuff him.
An awards ceremony was held on 11 September where a number of officers, including PC Edge, were honoured for their bravery with an award from the Chief Constable.
CC Peter Goodman said: “I would like to say an enormous thank you to every officer for the hard work that they do day-in-day-out to keep the people of Derbyshire safe and many congratulations to those who have won awards and been commended tonight.”
